What is Meditation?

Meditation is a practice to help achieve mindfulness. Almost all major religions use a form of meditation. The practice I do is secular but the principles are rooted in Buddhist practices. Mindfulness is about being focused on the moment to deal with what is directly in front of you with compassion and without judgement.

Meditation as a Practice

Meditation is something like any sport, hobby, or passion requires practice. A daily practice is very important to improve at dealing what life gives you. It helps provide that mindfulness that is so important in dealing with stress, anger, and thoughts that may not be real. You learn to apply compassion to your present situation.

Why is Meditation Important?

Meditation is important to help provide a regular practice to dealing with thoughts of the mind. Regular practice gives you the foundation to deal with different struggles throughout your life. You take the techniques used in regular practice and use them to address issues that come up in your life.

Practice to find your inner peace

Meditation is something I have adopted as part of my life over a year and half ago.  I have created this site to share my experiences and allow others to see where my journey takes me.  My goal for the site is to help others with their practice. If I can do this, so can you. I am already learning so much and look forward to share with everyone the reflections, the growth, the struggles and everything else that comes with meditation.

Posture is very Important

Posture is very important for several reasons.  The first is for comfort.  Meditations can go for quite some time depending on how long you have been doing your practice. The second is to able to pay attention during the session.  You don’t want to fall asleep during the session and you don’t want to be in pain.  Somewhere in between is good.

I have included a video from Dragonfly Studio where I practice.  Ann Marie gives a great Youtube video on ways to sit during the meditation.
